Poonam Tewari is a tech professional based in Toronto. She has over a decade of experience in her field, which should be no surprise given her love of technology. Alongside her technology degrees, Poonam Tewari has a diploma and certification in Human Resources from MacEwan University. Combined, her two fields of study give Poonam everything necessary to understand how vital technology is to HR.
Poonam Tewari’s goal is to make any HR initiative she is involved in as progressive and updated as possible. Emerging technologies have the potential to change how HR operates. This is why Poonam has focused so heavily on combining the two. Every company that Poonam has worked with has benefited from her viewpoint as she develops new programs and initiatives. One such organization is Ubisoft Toronto, where Poonam was recognized as Canada’s Top Employer for Young People for three consecutive years.
Currently, Poonam Tewari is the SVP of People & Talent for Herschel Supply Company. This is a recent change for Poonam, and she is excited about the opportunity to continue to challenge herself and make a difference for her teams. Before accepting her role with Herschel, Poonam had spent time with companies such as Coconut Software, Rivalry.com, Ubisoft, and The Boys & Girls Clubs of Edmonton.
The daily responsibilities of an HR manager vary from company to company. However, Poonam Tewari has always delighted in supporting her organization and encouraging diversity within her teams. For example, at Rivalry.com, Poonam was in a position to establish a code of conduct appropriate for a growing company of that scale. This is just one of the many changes she made during her time with Rivalry.com, and it is something she intends to continue with each new position she tackles. When Poonam Tewari isn’t busy with creating and developing new HR initiatives, she enjoys taking the time to travel. In a way, her love of travel was encouraged by her love of technology. Thanks to technology, we can travel the globe in such a short time – something that most of us take for granted. Poonam has never taken this fact for granted and instead relishes the opportunities it brings her way.
